June 21st Meeting

Post date: May 24, 2019 7:27:01 PM

Topic and Description: Co-Curricular Assessment

Expectations to enhance student retention alongside tightening budgets require campus units to “do more with less.” As co-curricular units juggle data sources and processes related to both learning assessment and program evaluation, units may struggle to integrate and utilize multiple types of data to improve programs and services. This presentation highlights DePaul’s new data-driven decision-making model that integrates assessment and evaluation data and processes to support decision-making within and across multiple departments within student affairs. This session specifically discusses this model along with processes used to implement this model on campus. Question, Answer and discussion will follow.

Dr. D. Scott Tharp completed his Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He currently serves as the Assessment & Effectiveness Specialist at DePaul University where he oversees co-curricular assessment and evaluation processes. Scott’s broader scholarship focuses on social justice education curricula design and assessment.
